Straw Cat Hat Day

It’s Straw Hat Day! And this year, I thought I’d wear one of my favorite ensembles and do a video of me modeling it.

This year, my human did a little bit of research on Straw Hat Day’s origins but came up empty handed. Apparently no one knows how it started. People began wearing straw hats sometimes in the 1800s. By the 1900s, it had become a fashion rule that they were only to be worn from May 15 through September 15. Men who wore straw hats past September 15 risked being ridiculed, or even having their hats destroyed. In fact, New York City had a Straw Hat Riot in mid-September of 1922, which lasted 8 days and resulted in injuries, arrests, and many destroyed straw hats. And people wonder why cats feel superior to the human race.

Anyhow, here’s my outfit, and you can see the video below! I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about straw hats and stuff.
