I always get baths before cat shows. Since it’s still pretty cold in the enclosed patio, where I usually get my baths, I got this one in the kitchen sink. My human calls it my winter bath location.
Although I’m not a huge fan of baths, I tolerate them well, and I’m always happy when we’re done and I get my treat for being good. After all this time, I’ve just accepted baths as part of what I do.
I’ve been getting baths before I even met my human! That’s because I was a show kitten, and my breeder started giving me baths as soon as I was old enough to have them. Then when my human brought me home, a few weeks later, my breeder made the two-hour drive up here to show her how to properly bathe and groom me. My human has been following her instructions ever since, and often gets compliments on how well groomed I am.
When I was competing in shows, I got baths twice a month, which was about how often I went to shows. Now it’s more like once a month, although my my human tries for a little more often. I’m supposed to be clean for my therapy cat visits too, and while I don’t need a full bath and groom for those, I do get touch ups.
On a small handful of occasions, I have needed something my human refers to as a “butt bath.” I imagine you know what that means! Fortunately, my digestive track works well 99 percent of the time.
Of course the treat part is my favorite part of the bath. Like you couldn’t guess!
Has your cat ever needed a bath? And how did that work out? Let’s talk about it!
